Programme of house handing over to the destitute people was held in Rangamati on Saturday.

268 houses handed over in Rangamati

Some 268 houses were handed over to the landless and homeless destitute people in seven upazilas out of ten in Rangamati hill district on Saturday soon after inauguration of the house hand over programme by the prime minister Sheikh Hasina through video conferencing.

A total of 69, 904 houses were given to the rootless families across the country under the PM’s Ashrayan Project-2. 

The programme was held at the hall room of Rangamati Gymnasium in the town. 

As part of this programme, total 736 houses will be constructed in ten upazilas in Rangamati. Meanwhile, in the first phase 268 out of 736 houses were handed over as the construction works of these homes have been completed. 

The remaining 436 houses will be handed over after completion of the construction works, said deputy commissioner in Rangamati AKM Mamunur Rashid  

Local lawmaker Dipankar Talukdar MP was present as the chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner AKM Mamunur Rashid, superintendent of police in Rangamati Mir Modasser Hossain, Rangamati sadar upazila chairman Shahiduzzaman Mohsin Roman, sadar upazila nirbahi officer Fatematuz Johra Upama and former member of national human right commission Nirupa Dewan were present, among others.
